Learn To Make The Right Financial Decisions For You and Your Family

Happy family.jpeg

There is conventional wisdom which teaches that the cheapest way of doing something is to do it yourself. Why would you hire someone to do something that you are able to do? They, after all, are trying to make a living and their prices will be designed to elicit a profit. If you do something yourself, you don’t need to pay for your labour and there won’t be a mark up on any parts or materials that you might need. It seems like the better option but sometimes conventional wisdom is exactly that: a convention. Not all tradition is worth hanging on to and advice can become stale. Sometimes your time if worth more to you than the cost of hiring others to do things. If you run your own business, or if you have a job that pays quite well, it can be the case that taking time off to do other things does not make financial sense. In every aspect of life, you need to delegate and part of deciding which things to assign to others is calculating whether by doing so you can make the most of what you have.

Something that is especially tempting to attend to on your own is jobs around the house. Maybe you have to put a lot of time into your garden to get to a place where you have happy with it, or something has broken that you haven’t got around to fixing yet. You may feel that as it is your house, you should be the one to take care of it. However, there is no shame in getting others to do it. This is particularly true when the task is time intensive like painting. If you want to redecorate a room or even want to paint the outside of your house, you may quickly find that it is eating up all of your weekends. Employing a company like Prime Painting Group can save you time and effort. Besides, it is their full time job and they might make a better job of it than you could have if you’d have tried.

Work obligations are not the only thing that make your time precious. Spending time with your friends and family, particularly your children, is the greatest pleasure that life has to offer. Forcing yourself to do things that could more easily be done by others seems like it makes a lot more sense if you look at it from that perspective. You may never have considered hiring a cleaner before but if it frees you up to do the things you want to do, it is a good decision. There is a false equivalency between money and time and often time is more valuable. Do not fall into the trap of thinking that you need to save money at any cost. Life's for living after all.

There are some more obvious instances where hiring someone to help you makes more sense than doing it yourself such as employing a tax lawyer to file your returns. The consequences of making a mistake there are severe. A fine is one thing but losing swaths of your life that you could be enjoying is just as serious an outcome.

A few months ago my daughter's little chair that goes with her table she sits at every day tore and she made it worse by pulling all of the stuffing out of the seat!
