Last Minute Moving: Little Ways To Make The Process A Little Smoother

For one reason or another, you’ve ended up in a bit of a sticky situation - you have to move house, and you have to do it soon. Perhaps you’ve been offered a job in a new town and need to move closer to the office? Maybe you’ve got a new addition on the way and need a home that offers more space? Or, could it be that your home is too expensive to run and if you don’t move soon you will end up in debt?

Whatever the reason for your need to move house quickly, the chances are that it’s put a lot of pressure on you and your family. There’s no getting away from the fact that moving so quickly is going to be exhausting, time-consuming, and stressful, but if it means you will have a better future, then it’s worth it, isn’t it?

Last minute moving might be a nightmare but if you take note of the steps below you can make the process slightly smoother.

Be willing to compromise on your new home

When you are shopping around at the last minute for a new home, the fact is you have to be willing to compromise. You may not want to, but if you are serious about finding a new home quickly, then you have to be willing to compromise on certain things. Write two lists, one that states what your new home must have and one that says what you would like it to have. Just remember, even if you have to compromise on certain things, it doesn’t mean you won’t love your new home. You can always make changes to it, so there is no need to stress about having to pick somewhere that isn’t as perfect as you hoped it would be.

Get your old home sold quickly

Once you’ve found somewhere new to live - or during the time you’re searching for somewhere - focus on getting your old home sold. For a quick sale, which is what you need when you’re planning a last minute move, and are thinking ‘I need to sell my house now’, it could be worth contacting local companies that buy houses, to see what price they can offer you. It could take months to find an independent buyer, which is why using a specialist company could be a good option.

Hire help

Obviously, you will want help on moving day, that’s a given, but what about with your packing? Did you know that there are companies that provide home packing assistance? You may not like the idea of paying someone to help pack your home, but if you have a tight time frame, it could be worthwhile. Remember, you want to take advantage of anything that will help to make moving house quickly easier and less stressful. If hiring help will do that, then it’s worth it, isn’t it?

Moving at the last minute is never going to be easy, but if you take note of the tips and advice above, you can make the process that little bit smoother.
