Quick & Easy Butter Grouse Recipe

Hunting season means lots of fresh delicious and nutritious meat to harvest and devour! I absolutely love grouse it tastes exactly like chicken it’s delicious, easy to harvest and very versatile. My favourite recipe is Butter Grouse and I love using the premise sauce with my own special twist, sometimes it’s just faster to use a prepared sauce but if your all about homemade be my guest!

You will need:
  • 4 decent sized grouse breasts chopped into cubes
  • Butter chicken sauce
  • 1/2 cup mushrooms
  • 1/2 a red or yellow onion
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 4 cups rice
Start by chopping the grouse into cubes and cooking in a medium sauce pan until nearly cooked through. Chop the mushrooms and onions and add them to the pot.

Cook them down until tender and add the butter sauce, using the empty sauce jar add the milk, sugar and cinnamon to the jar and shake to mix. This helps remove all the leftover sauce and get a nice mix going. Pour it into the grouse mixture.

Bring to a simmer. Make your rice, I use minute rice or jasmine rice for extra flavour. Pour the Butter Grouse over the rice. Serve with warm naan bread and you have a delicious meal in 15 mins! I use this exact same recipe for chicken, turkey, and any other fowl!
