Copycat Dunkaroo Recipe

We are all trying to find ways to save money and enjoy the things we love at the same time. As a frugal mom you learn how to recreate different treats and dishes that your family loves without spending a fortune on them and that is always going to be a great way to cut costs. Making your kids their favourite snacks and treats at home can be very easy and cost a whole lot less than the prepackaged kind with preservatives.

I recreated this amazing Boston Pizza’s Pizza Bread and it is absolutely amazing and costs nothing to make! I love to make things at home and save my hard earned money for my savings account and other expenses! It is way too expensive to go to restaurants regularly right now as I am trying hard to save for a down payment right now. Home prices are crazy, interest rates are rising and we are struggling to make it affordable around here.

My kids love the convenience and fun of those little Dunkaroo cookies with icing that come in the little packages but they are like $5 for 6 tiny packages and get eaten rather quickly. When you have 3 kids they are 2/3 gone with one snack time so making my own was definitely a must.

I love using these two section glass containers for storage and lunches. They last forever and keep things super fresh!

I created a super easy recipe for tiny cookies and chocolate icing that is the perfect copycat recipe for you to use in your kids lunches and as snacks throughout the day.

Easy 5 ingredient mini cookies:

1/2 cup softened butter
2 tbsp granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp cocoa powder (if you want chocolate cookies)

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Mix the butter, sugar, and vanilla until blended. It will be a bit gritty but will fix itself when the flour and cocoa powder are added.

Add the flour and cocoa powder. Roll into small balls and then flatten with a fork. You can dip the fork in sugar to keep it from sticking.

Cook for 10-15 minutes in a 325 degree oven. Let cool.

4 ingredient chocolate icing:

1/4 cup softened butter
1/4 cup Icing sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1 tsp vanilla

Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and mix until smooth. Refrigerate what you don’t use right away.

This recipe can be served right away or frozen into small portions for two months. This recipe can be doubled or tripled to make big batches for lunches and snacks or parties!
