There’s never going to be a perfect time to start a business, chase your dreams, or turn your life around, and waiting for one is what keeps most people stuck. The truth is, the best time to start is today. Every time you say, “I’ll start when things calm down,” or “when I have money,” you’re really just giving fear permission to slow you down.
If you want a better life, a thriving business, or financial freedom, the only way to get there is by taking action right now.
If I hadn’t started writing, blogging, and creating 11 years ago when my kids were toddlers, I would not have the successful business I have today. I knew nothing about blogging, writing, or promoting I just knew I was smart and creative and hit the ground running! You can too, and here’s how:
Why Waiting Is Holding You Back
Perfection doesn’t exist. Life will always be unpredictable, messy, and full of excuses, but action is what moves you forward. Every successful entrepreneur you admire started exactly where you are: uncertain, unprepared, and scared. The difference is, they started anyway.
Momentum is powerful. Once you take that first step, even a tiny one, it becomes easier to take the next. Waiting keeps you stuck in the same spot, wishing instead of doing.
You Don’t Need Money To Start A Business
One of the biggest myths about success is that you need money to make money. The truth? Millions of businesses begin with no working capital at all.
I started mine with zero investment. I built my business by writing, promoting brands, and creating meaningful partnerships. I had no big budget, just persistence, consistency, and a passion for helping others. Over the years, those small efforts have turned into something powerful and profitable. I am still learning everyday and always hustling to ensure I continue to grow and exceed my goals.
How To Get Started — Even Without Money
If you’re ready to take action but your bank account says otherwise, here are some simple ways to get started today:
1. Start With What You Know
Think about what you’re already good at — writing, crafting, organizing, cooking, or creating content. You don’t need to invent something new; you just need to share your strengths in a way that helps others. There are millions of choices available with E-commerce and Dropshipping.
2. Use Free Tools and Platforms
There are endless free resources online:
- WordPress or Blogger for building a website or blog
- Canva for free graphic design
- Google Workspace for organization and productivity
- Social media to share, connect, and promote your ideas
3. Build Genuine Relationships
Networking is free — and invaluable. Join Facebook groups, connect with like-minded people, and collaborate with other creators. Opportunities often come through relationships, not advertisements.
4. Stay Consistent
You don’t need to work on your goals 24/7, but you do need to show up every day in some way. Consistency builds habits, habits build results, and results build your dream life. Connecting with an audience isn’t always easy and being a sales rep for yourself can be very scary. I am a very shy person who has never been very successful at selling stuff to others. I just don’t like harassing people or being pushy. I am now very good at explaining why working with me is worth it and I am not selling something you don’t need and won’t improve your life. I am selling my skills as a promoter, writer, and social media influencer.
I’m not just pushing products at people I am offering value and that is what helped me learn how to gain customers and build a better brand.
5. Invest Time Instead Of Money
You can trade your time for growth. Learn new skills from free online courses, listen to podcasts, or read about your industry. Every minute spent learning is a step toward success. I read lots of different articles and watch lots of videos about promotion, social media marketing tips, business development, and more to harness my knowledge and be the best I can be. Experience isn’t everything and here is a great piece I wrote about how you can start a successful business with no experience.
Stop Waiting — Start Creating
You’ll never feel “ready.” You’ll never have the perfect amount of time, money, or confidence. The only thing standing between you and the life you want is action.
Start small. Be patient. Keep showing up. The power of persistence can take you further than any bank loan or business plan ever will.
Remember — success doesn’t wait for perfect timing. It waits for you.
So go for it. The best time to start your business or change your life isn’t tomorrow.
It’s today.
