Venison Chili & Chili Cheese Dogs Recipe

We had an amazing opportunity to harvest a white tail deer this year. So we are making all kinds of delicious venison recipes over the next few months. With the cold months moving in, chili hit the spot. And if you want to take things up a notch? Pile that chili high on top of hot dogs with melty cheese for the ultimate venison chili cheese dogs. Perfect for family dinners, game nights, or when you just want to treat yourself to something delicious and filling.

Venison Chili Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 lb sliced venison (bite-sized pieces work best)
  • 2 peppers sliced
  • 1 purple onion sliced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) beans in tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 (5.5 oz) can tomato paste 
  • 3–4 tbsp Clubhouse Chili Seasoning Mix (or to taste)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for browning meat)
  • Optional toppings: diced onions, sour cream, shredded cheese, pineapple or corn

Instructions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add sliced venison and cook until browned on all sides. Add the onion and peppers and cook until tender.
  2. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, black beans, and beans in tomato sauce.
  3. Add brown sugar and Clubhouse Chili Seasoning Mix, stirring to combine.
  4. Bring to a simmer and let cook for 30–40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the venison is tender and the chili thickens.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.

At this point, you’ve got a rich, flavorful pot of venison chili perfect for bowls, cornbread sides, or meal prep. Venison Chili Cheese Dogs

Ingredients:

  • Venison chili (from above recipe)
  • Hot dogs
  • Hot dog buns
  • Shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite mix)

Instructions:

  1. Cook your hot dogs (boiled, grilled, or pan-fried—your choice).
  2. Toast buns lightly for extra flavor and to prevent sogginess.
  3. Place hot dogs in buns, then spoon a generous amount of venison chili over each one.
  4. Sprinkle with shredded cheese and let it melt into the hot chili.
  5. Serve with extra napkins—you’ll need them!

Tips & Variations

  • Add a sprinkle of jalapeƱos or hot sauce if you like it spicy.
  • Swap shredded cheese for nacho cheese sauce for a gooier version.
  • Make it a family night—kids can assemble their own chili dogs with their favorite toppings.
