Super Simple Cotton Candy Cake

Summer is just around the corner and it is time for celebrations, parties, and barbecues! I know that one of our all time favourite things about summer is cotton candy! There is nothing quite like the flavour and colour of cotton candy that makes a child’s eyes light up, even grown ups love that sweet flavour melting in their mouths.

I have created a super easy to make marbled cotton candy flavoured cake with my Hamilton Beach Hand/Stand Mixer that will make you a big hit at your next family event! Not everyone has the time to make everything from scratch and I am one of them so yes this recipe uses cake mix but please feel free to replace it with your own white or vanilla cake from scratch recipe!

You will need:

Cake
  • 1 box white cake mix
  • Cotton candy flavoured oil
  • Red and blue food colouring

Frosting
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3 cups icing sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Cotton candy flavouring
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease your cake pan. Prepare cake mix as directed on box but add a few drops of cotton candy flavouring to the batter.

Separate the mix into 3 small bowls. In one bowl add two or three drops of red food colouring to make it a pink colour, add two or three drops of blue to another bowl of batter and leave the other one white.

Pour the white batter into the greased cake pan  then add the pink and then the blue. Take a butter knife and swirl the batter to create a marbled effect. Bake as directed on box.

As the cake is baking add your softened butter, vanilla, icing sugar, cotton candy oil, and milk to your Hamilton Beach Hand/Stand Mixer and mix slowly until well combined.

Take the cake out when done, let it cool and frost with icing. You can split up your frosting into two bowls and add pink and blue food colouring to them to create a cotton candy effect on the surface as well as the inside.

The Hamilton Beach Hand/Stand mixer makes baking super easy and ultra fast which is a huge deal in my busy household. Whether I’m getting ready for school bake sales, preparing for a party or just baking for my family this mixer makes everything a breeze. The handheld function makes it great for mixing in larger bowls than the one that comes with it. Then when your making smaller batches of pretty much anything you can revert to the stand mixer and let it cruise.

This mixer has a lot of power and is super easy to clean and maintain! Highly recommend this product for any baker who is in a hurry and wants to get the job done right!

Hamilton Beach makes all the products you need to make your life easier this summer! Take a look at these popular picks this year!

Hi all! I'm Tiffany from This Motherhood is Brought to You by Xanax and I am so excited to be a part of the Guest Post Swap and to be Amanda's swap partner! I love love love her idea on how to make indoor snowballs with egg cartons. I am definitely going to have to try that with my kiddos since my smallest one has decided that it has to snow for Christmas. Poor baby doesn't know snow is hard to come by in Alabama :( For my guest post I wanted to share a little DIY with you guys that involves duct tape! A few months ago my daughter's little chair that goes with her table she sits at every day tore and she made it worse by pulling all of the stuffing out of the seat! What started out as a quick fix turned into a great idea. She loved her seat so much that she has now decided that her table has look cool too so being the smarty pants that she is, she tore her table!
