Parents: Nutritionist Tips to Keep YOU Healthy When the Kids Go Back to School

Often, parents focus on what they can do to keep their kids healthy - mentally, emotionally, and physically, and ignore their own health needs. Simple lifestyle changes can ensure good health for parents this Fall as the kids go back to school. Rima Aridi, Nupeutics Health's In-House Nutritionist, has seven immunity-boosting tips that should be a top priority for any adult.

“Sending the kids back to school, especially this year, can be just as stressful to parents as it can be to kids. Everyone in the family needs to keep their immunities up,” says Nupeutics Health’s Rima Aridi Abifaker, RD, CLEC. “Things like prioritizing physical activity is crucial, and supplements can give you the ‘edge’ on immune health when you need it most - everything from gut health to aid in getting the sleep you need to stay healthy.”

Aridi has some simple tips to stay healthy this Fall and the whole year through. Seven Immune Boosting Tips For Parents:

  1. Get adequate sleep: Adults need 7-9 hours of sleep per day to truly restore the mind and body and fortify immunity. Practicing good sleep hygiene means sticking to a sleep schedule, incorporating calming pre-bedtime rituals, disconnecting from electronics early in the evening, and limiting caffeine as well as alcohol. An all-natural supplement that is herbal and non-addictive can help balance the natural sleep cycle. Nupeutics Sleep Master can help reduce anxiety, insomnia, and restless feelings but also helps to ease tension headaches with natural ingredients like chamomile, melatonin, magnesium, and linden flower.
  2. Eat a diet rich in vegetables and fruit: They are natural immunity boosters. Chef Mareya Ibrahim suggests fruits and vegetables high in Vitamin C since the body does not produce it on its own. Think citrus: zesty grapefruit, orange, or lemon plus red pepper - one red bell pepper carries three times the amount of a Florida orange!
  3. Limit alcohol consumption: While alcohol is a sedative and can bring on the drowsy desire to sleep, it can reduce REM sleep and cause sleep disruptions. Notably, alcohol can suppress the immune system, and the body may take longer to recognize and respond to developing an infection.
  4. Reduce stress by engaging in regular physical activity: Exercise is a powerful stress reducer. Not only does it reduce adrenaline and cortisol (the body’s stress hormones), but it also stimulates the production of chemicals in the brain that are the body's natural painkillers and mood elevators - endorphins. Working in a daily walk can have a profound impact on stress in the body.
  5. Promote a disease-fighting gut microbiome by incorporating dietary prebiotics and probiotics: There is a strong link between gut health and immunity. Microbes in the lower intestinal tract help us digest food, fight harmful bacteria, and regulate the immune system. Much of the immune system resides in the gut, so when the gut becomes unbalanced with unhealthy levels of certain bacteria, it’s vital to restore the balance. Probiotics are live bacteria and yeast that can help restore the balance in the gut. Prebiotics come from types of carbs (mostly fiber) that humans can’t digest. The beneficial bacteria in your gut eat this fiber. Eating and taking supplements with both can restore or maintain balance in the gut. An additional option to get the microbiome healthy and happy is the Nupeutics Health Microbiome Master, a plant-based high-quality herbal cleanse with rich antioxidants designed to detoxify the gut, support clear, healthy skin, and promote weight loss. Help the “good guys” in the gut win!
  6. Avoid smoking: According to the CDC, cigarette smoke contains more than 7,000 chemical compounds. Many of them can interfere with the immune system. In short, smoking lowers immunities and also makes the immune system less successful at fighting disease. Simply put, nothing good comes from smoking.
  7. Consider supplements that can support a healthy immune system: Look for supplements that contain zinc, vitamin C, vitamin D, and elderberry - all powerful for immunity.  Nupeutics Colon Master and Nupeutics Microbiome Master are a beneficial supplement to eliminate waste, toxins, bloating, and aid digestive issues. It’s an all-natural herbal blend designed to cleanse the colon, alleviate digestive problems, and get or maintain a healthy gut and a healthy life.

DIY Table Revamp - Guest Post

Hi all! I'm Tiffany from This Motherhood is Brought to You by Xanax and I am so excited to be a part of the Guest Post Swap and to be Amanda's swap partner! I love love love her idea on how to make indoor snowballs with egg cartons. I am definitely going to have to try that with my kiddos since my smallest one has decided that it has to snow for Christmas. Poor baby doesn't know snow is hard to come by in Alabama :( For my guest post I wanted to share a little DIY with you guys that involves duct tape! A few months ago my daughter's little chair that goes with her table she sits at every day tore and she made it worse by pulling all of the stuffing out of the seat! What started out as a quick fix turned into a great idea. She loved her seat so much that she has now decided that her table has look cool too so being the smarty pants that she is, she tore her table!

3 HOME IMPROVEMENT TO MAKE BEFORE MOVING IN

While shifting to your dream house, you may face a mountain of pre-move work, including downsizing, packing, hiring moving trucks, and other help. When you already have a list full of tasks, home improvements for the new house might be the last thing. However, handling the new house renovation before moving in is convenient for you in many ways. Planning home improvement is exciting and stressful both. If you are moving to a house that is not entirely ready, you have massive things to do. To make things smooth, create a list based on priorities. If you are shifting to a freshly build house, you do not need to make a lot of renovation, though you can add a little personal touch to it. When you make house changes before moving in, you can save your floor and furniture from paint spills. You will have an open space to plan the house interior. You can protect yourself and your family from hazardous odors and dust. There are several home improvements like removing popcorn ceil
