There’s something truly special about stepping through your own front door, kicking off your shoes, and knowing you’re exactly where you want to be. While the world rushes around chasing vacations, festivals, and packed social calendars, I’m here leaning into a slower, more grounded kind of joy — the kind that starts at home.
To be honest travel and trips stress me out. Something can always go wrong, someone can get hurt, and it is so expensive. Not only that but man is it ever time consuming. Being at home or close to home is much more comforting to me.
In the next few years, I’m beyond excited to spend more time right here — improving our space, creating comfort, and turning our home into the ultimate hangout. No passport needed, no crowds, no hustle. Just a cozy haven filled with love, laughter, and family. I can’t wait to start creating a family friendly home that my kids enjoying spending time at.
A Space to Grow and Enjoy
I’ve got a list of projects and dreams lined up: cozy nooks, outdoor spaces for lazy days and BBQs, better organization, more comfort, and small upgrades that will make a big impact. I want my home to be the place where everyone feels welcome, where memories are made, where my kids want to be. I’m not interested in turning my home into a showroom — I want it to be lived in, loved, and full of personality.
There’s so much joy in making a space reflect who you are. Rearranging furniture, painting a room, planting flowers in the yard — these are the little things that make me feel grounded and fulfilled. It’s not about the biggest house or flashiest features; it’s about building a life I don’t need to escape from.
Why Being a Homebody is a Superpower
We live in a world that pushes constant movement — more events, more vacations, more things to do. But being a homebody has real benefits, and I embrace them fully:
- Less stress: No packing, rushing, waiting in lines or navigating airports. Just peace.
- More quality time: Home is where I get real moments with my family. We connect, talk, laugh, and grow together here.
- Cost-effective: Let’s be honest, staying home saves money. That means more room in the budget for things that really matter.
- Creative freedom: Home is my canvas. I get to design, decorate, and dream up projects that make it truly ours.
- Better well-being: Familiar spaces help ease anxiety and provide a sense of safety and control.
- Encourages simplicity: When you’re not always on the go, you begin to appreciate the little joys — a homemade dinner, a clean kitchen, a board game night.
Teaching My Kids the Value of Staying Close
Let’s face it — the world out there can feel overwhelming, even hostile at times. The fast pace, the chaos, the danger that seems to be lurking in places that used to feel safe… it’s a lot.
I’ve started encouraging my kids to enjoy the simple, quiet moments. I want them to know they don’t have to chase big adventures to live a full life. There is magic in the ordinary. A day spent building something in the backyard, reading in a hammock, baking together, or watching a movie on the couch — these are the moments that matter.
My kids love the fact that I am always finding new ways to create comfort and enjoyment for them at home. They love the sensory swing I have in the living room and enjoy it for hours at a time. They love the fact that I enjoy video games of all kinds and could sit and enjoy them for hours. And they especially enjoy that I love local businesses and venues rather than far away and expensive trips. We love to check out so much local stuff because our town is a tourist destination so there is a million things to enjoy within an hours drive.
We don’t need extravagant plans or endless social obligations. We need connection, love, safety, and comfort. And for me, those things are rooted deeply in our home. Sitting around playing games, watching shows, playing with our cats, and enjoying each other’s company is my favourite thing to do in the world.
So here’s to the next chapter — one filled with home projects, family cuddles, backyard fun, and warm lighting. I’m proud to be a homebody. It’s not about missing out — it’s about choosing what matters most.
Home is my happy place, and I can’t wait to make it even better.
